A Changing Vision

About 3 years ago I had my business exactly where I wanted it.  A few sales a month, consistent flow, happy costumers, and requests for beautiful custom pieces.  Then we moved.  Then Mr. was laid off twice in a matter of months. Then things that were not daily necessities began to get cut from our budget.  So my online store was forgotten, my maker supplies boxed up.  Now, moved again, I am settling for the long term. I have big plans in the works for BMD.  For now you can visit my shop on Zibbet.

Blankets for Fighters

It's that time of year again. The time of year where we seem to get just a little more busy our minds are filled with what the holiday season will hold. Gift lists are beginning to form. And we begin to loose our minds just a bit with all that needs to get done. It is also the time of year that I think about those that battle cancer.

Do you think you could spare about $12 this year and make something handmade for someone fighting cancer?

Like last year I'm looking to collect something made with love to give to cancer patients at CBCC in Bakersfield. You can read my post last year about why I chose this particular treatment center. This year I am collecting no-sew fleece blankets. #1- If you can tie a shoe you can make one of these (you can even do it while waiting for the kids to get out of school, watching your favorite sitcom, or child's sports game, or get those crafty kids of yours together and you can all work on one). #2- Chemotherapy can make you cold and many patients bring their own or use the treatment centers blanket. #3- There are kits available in fabric stores and online so yo don't even need to leave the house or be creative enough to match fabrics (even better Joann's is having a sale right now on those kits and they are $11.49). Amazingly simple I know.

This year you'll need to include a note with your blanket. Something simple, 'made with love by {your name}.' Something personal, 'I prayed for the recipient of this blanket. God bless, {your name}.' Include something that identifies you as the creator of the blanket.

If you are looking to send the blanket to me using the postal service please email me at beth@bethanymariedesigns.com for a mailing address. Those who live locally are welcome to simply drop off the blanket to my house or bring it to one of my holiday open houses.

(Please send your blankets in by Dec.4, 2011

...but of course if it isn't in by then we'll still take it!)

Farewell Summer

My last craft project for the summer was this subway art canvas. I just love it. It is a compilation of sayings that have become our 'house rules.'

-Stay tuned for another opportunity to help cancer patients. It will be slightly different from last years, but blessing the some of the same people and the same cancer clinic as last year.-

Whoa!

Where have I been in the blogging world? Obviously not here. Hopefully I can get a grip on this blog and post some more fun stuff and new products on a regular basis which shouldn't be too hard if I manage another post in the next 6 months!...no worries it wouldn't be that long before I post again. Thanks for hanging in with me!

New Products Coming Soon!

What I really want to write is how spring is almost here as the weather is starting to warm...but that part about warm is a figment of my imagination. Spring feels fresh, and so I thought so fresh new products would be just the thing to welcome in the Spring weather. I'm so excited. I hope you love them. Won't show them to you just yet, but keep a look out some time in the next few days you might get to see a few!
